At an early stage in my life I became fascinated with water. We lived by Lake St. Claire outside of Detroit, Michigan and I loved to go look at the lake and boats. When visiting relatives in Chiago, Illinois going to Lake Michigan, the Chicago Yacht Club and the Chicago Fountain was a must! The fountain was magnificent with rising and falling spires of water that were lit by colored lights. The sights of the fountain were only part of the experience. The sound of the water falling and rising was part of the total experience. The picture here is a carved fountain in Ireland that combined the "gurgle, gurgle" of water falling into the top basin with the "splish, splash" sound of water falling into the primary basin and a "swish, swish" sound of water being swirled out of the upper basin. Quite an accomplishment!
So... We now have a minature waterfall in our backyard for our pond. It gives the "gurgle, gurgle" and "splish, splash" sounds but no "swish, swish". We and the fish love it!
Wow, I walked past that fountain every day for a week but never stopped to really take it in. And I only noticed the sound when Sue turned it off and it was quiet. I'll just blame that on my head cold; I'm usually a lot more observant . :-)
I like your new fountain. Eliot would have had a field day with it. He loved patting at running water.
